At Zena Esthetique, we have a long-standing trust in Cutera technology for laser hair removal, with over 20 years of successful application. In 2019, we upgraded our aesthetic center with Cutera’s latest innovation, the Cutera Xeo®. This new addition carries forward the legacy of the previous generation CoolGlide®, being a medical-grade laser.
The Cutera Xeo® not only offers enhanced performance but also ensures safety. Being an approved medical-grade laser, it can be utilized on all body parts (excluding eyebrows) and is suitable for all skin types.
We feel it’s important to highlight that not all laser hair removal treatments are safe for individuals with dark or tanned skin. However, our technology ensures safety and effectiveness for all skin types.
Preparing for Your Session
Ensure the area to be treated is clean and shaven before your session. Ideally, shaving should be done a day prior to the treatment to prevent any potential irritation.
During the Treatment
Once your skin is prepared, we will adjust the device settings to match your skin type and hair density. The Nd:YAG handpiece will then be passed over your skin to target the desired area. Please note that you may experience a slight pinching sensation during the laser application, but it is generally tolerable and doesn’t require any anesthesia or pain relief.
What to Anticipate
After each session, you should notice a significant reduction in hair growth in the treated areas. To achieve optimal results, it is crucial to follow the recommended appointment schedule. Most of our clients observe initial results after their first session.
Post-Treatment Care
If needed, cold compress can be applied to alleviate any discomfort post-treatment. Any sensations experienced should subside shortly after the session. Remember, waxing is not advised between sessions; instead, shaving is recommended for the best possible results.
Importance of Maintaining your Appointment Schedule
Laser hair removal treatments yield the best results when appointments are scheduled six weeks apart. This schedule respects the hair growth cycle and helps maximize results, particularly following the first sessions. Please bear in mind that results can vary among individuals, but all our clients generally report satisfactory outcomes.
In Conclusion
Currently, no other treatment surpasses the effectiveness of laser hair removal in eliminating unwanted hair from most body areas.

Our technology
The Cutera® Xeo YAG laser, a notable device in the field of permanent laser hair removal, is recognized for its effectiveness. It is important to mention that this characteristic, which ensures sustained results on darker skin types, is found in a limited number of lasers.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is laser hair removal truly permanent?
Laser treatment significantly reduces hair growth over the long term. It is considered a form of "permanent reduction" since most hair does not grow back after completing the recommended sessions. However, touch-up sessions may be needed over time, especially in cases of hormonal changes.
How many sessions are needed?
Generally, 8 to 10 sessions are required, spaced several weeks apart (typically 4 to 8 weeks depending on the area and hair type). The number of sessions may vary depending on:
. hair color and thickness,
. the area being treated,
. hormonal factors,
. gender.
Is the treatment painful?
The sensation varies from person to person. It is often described as a light sting or a rubber band snap. Modern lasers are equipped with cooling systems to minimize discomfort.
What types of hair can be treated?
Laser hair removal is effective on dark hair (brown to black). It is not effective on white, gray, or red hair, as these contain little or no melanin.
Is laser hair removal safe?
Yes, when performed by a trained professional using certified equipment. Temporary side effects may occur (such as redness or tingling), but risks are minimal.
What are the contraindications?
Laser hair removal is not recommended in cases of:
. pregnancy or breastfeeding,
. use of photosensitizing medications,
. recent sun exposure or use of self-tanners,
. active skin infections or lesions in the treatment area.
Can laser hair removal be done on tanned or darker skin?
Yes, but with caution. Some lasers, such as the Nd:YAG, are designed for darker skin types. However, recent tanning increases the risk of burns and should be avoided before treatment.
Which areas of the body can be treated?
Almost all areas can be treated: legs, underarms, bikini area, arms, chest, back, face (excluding the eye area), and more.
Should I shave before my session?
Yes. You will usually be asked to shave the treatment area 24 to 48 hours before your appointment. Do not wax or pluck the hair (with wax or tweezers) for at least 3 weeks prior to the treatment.
What aftercare is required?
Avoid sun exposure and UV rays for a couple days.
Apply a soothing cream such as aloe vera or vitamin E.
Do not exfoliate or use irritating products for a few days.
Avoid saunas, steam rooms, or intense physical activity for 48 hours.
Can men also have laser hair removal?
Absolutely. An increasing number of men choose laser hair removal, particularly for the back, chest, shoulders, and beard areas.
