At Zena Esthétique, we offer personalized chemical peels designed to improve the appearance and health of your skin. Whether you're looking to reduce imperfections, even out your complexion, or restore your skin’s natural glow, chemical peels are a safe and effective solution suitable for various skin types.
WHAT IS A CHEMICAL PEEL?
A chemical peel involves applying an exfoliating solution made with acids to remove the superficial layers of the skin. This process stimulates cell renewal, boosts collagen production, and visibly improves skin texture.
HOW DOES A CHEMICAL PEEL WORK?
The skin is composed of two main layers: the epidermis and the dermis.
The epidermis is the outermost and thinnest layer—only about 0.02 mm thick on the face.
A chemical peel works by applying a controlled acidic solution that causes limited and precise exfoliation of the epidermis, and in some cases, the upper layers of the dermis.
This process triggers the regeneration of the treated skin layers and stimulates the production of collagen and elastin fibers in the deeper layers, resulting in firmer, healthier skin.
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING A CHEMICAL PEEL SESSION
No special preparation is required beforehand, but we strongly recommend thorough cleansing and increased hydration in the days leading up to the treatment to help the skin respond better.
During the session, the skin is carefully cleansed. A medical-grade peel tailored to your skin type is then applied for a few minutes and gently rinsed off.
The entire treatment takes between 45 minutes and 1 hour.
BENEFITS OF A CHEMICAL PEEL
• Reduces fine lines and wrinkles
• Fades dark spots and evens out skin tone
• Minimizes acne scars
• Leaves skin softer, smoother, and more radiant
• Tightens pores and purifies the skin
OUR TYPES OF PEELS
Each peel is customized based on your skin type and specific needs:
• Superficial Peel – Ideal for an instant glow without any social downtime
• Medium Peel – Targets more visible concerns like dark spots and fine lines
• Deep Peel – A more intensive treatment for signs of aging, deep acne scars, or enlarged pores
We also offer:
• Glycolic peels: Considered a mild to medium peel, it is suitable for sensitive skin, with a short recovery time.
• Hyaluronic acid peels: A highly effective hydrating agent for dry skin, wrinkles, and fine lines.
• Jeesner peels: A medium exfoliating treatment based on a blend of acids (salicylic acid, lactic acid, and resorcinol), ideal for treating pale to tanned skin. It deeply cleanses, refines skin texture, and promotes a more even and radiant complexion.
• Zena algae peels: 100% natural and specially designed for dark skin, but suitable for all skin types. This gentle peel, based on marine microalgae, stimulates cell renewal without damaging the skin. It is ideal for treating blemishes, acne scars, pigment spots, enlarged pores or simply reviving the complexion's radiance.
POST-TREATMENT CARE
You’ll receive detailed aftercare instructions to help optimize healing and results.
Redness, flaking, or sensitivity may appear after the session—these are normal and temporary reactions. Don’t worry, they are part of the natural healing process. It is ESSENTIAL to avoid sun exposure for two weeks following the treatment. A high-SPF sunscreen (SPF 50) must be applied daily for at least 15 days.
*At Zena Esthétique, we also recommend wearing sun-protective clothing to shield your skin from UV exposure at all times.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS – CHEMICAL PEELS
1. How many sessions are needed to see results?
It depends on the type of peel and your skin. Some results can be visible after the first session, but a series of treatments is usually recommended for optimal results.
2. Can I get a chemical peel year-round?
It’s best to avoid medium or deep peels during the summer months, as sun exposure may lead to hyperpigmentation. Light peels can be done year-round with proper sun protection.
3. Is a chemical peel painful?
You may feel a tingling, warming, or tightening sensation during application, but most people tolerate the procedure well.
4. What skincare should I follow after a peel?
Intense hydration, strict sun avoidance, and the use of SPF 50 sunscreen are crucial. Avoid makeup and harsh skincare products for a few days post-treatment.
5. Are there any contraindications?
Yes. Chemical peels are not recommended during pregnancy, breastfeeding, active skin conditions, or if you've recently used retinoid-based treatments.
6. Who is a good candidate?
Chemical peels are suitable for all skin types, including light and dark complexions, and for both men and women.
