Fractional laser treatment

Fractional laser treatment

Fractional laser treatment is a solution to consider when skin imperfections are difficult to remove. This treatment also serves as preventative care to maintain the appearance of healthy skin.

HOW IT WORKS?

A fractional laser works precisely  on damaged skin layers by sending controlled high temperature bursts to the outermost layer of the skin. This heat causes the targeted tissues to coagulate, which in turn triggers a healing reaction causing new skin cells to migrate to the treated area. The fractional laser targets a smaller portion of the skin's surface, leaving the majority intact. The surrounding skin commences the healing process by producing new collagen. This technique helps speed up the recovery period and quickly resume your activities.

WHAT CAN FRACTIONAL TREATMENTS DO FOR YOU?

Fractional lasers are used to treat a variety of skin conditions including; uneven skin tone and texture issues, hyperpigmentation associated with aging, old acne scars and spots, sun damage and severe wrinkles.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN A FRACTIONAL SESSION?

The session begins with the application of an anesthetic cream to the target area. This cream is used to minimize the level of discomfort felt during the session. Treatment length will depend on the areas to be treated, but a full face will take around 30 to 40 minutes. Please expect minor pain to be felt when the laser passes.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER A FRACTIONAL SESSION?

You might feel a slight sensation of warmth about an hour after the procedure. You may also notice swelling of the skin where the laser passed which should go away within hours of the procedure. Keep in mind that for some people it may take longer and in some cases take up to two days. The treated skin may also have a pinkish tone for 3 to 5 days after the procedure. Within 24 hours, new epidermal skin will already start to develop and this skin may have a tan appearance which can last 3 to 7 days. Peeling due to new skin replacing dead skin tissue may occur. If you have used chemical exfoliation treatments in the past, you are probably familiar with this healing phenomenon. The affected areas should be treated with a moisturizer suitable for your skin type and remember to treat the skin gently throughout the regeneration process to avoid creating unnecessary irritation. During the recovery phase and for several months after treatment, it is recommended to protect the treated area with high SPF moisturizing sunscreen. At Zena Esthetique, we always recommend protective clothing to protect the skin from sun exposure at all times.

WHY SHOULD YOU CONSIDER FRACTIONAL LASER TREATMENT?

Fractional laser treatment is an elite treatment. By adding the fractional to your skin care routine, you increase your chances of maintaining young, healthy-looking skin over time. We recommend that you start with 3 to 4 sessions to discover the full potential of what this laser has to offer. Subsequently, according to your needs, we recommend keeping at least 1 to 2 sessions each year to maintain the results and appearance of your skin.

WHAT RESULTS TO EXPECT?

A significant change in the texture and tone of your skin. Issues such as sun spots, wrinkles, signs of skin aging, large pores and acne scars will fade considerably, leaving the area smoother, firmer and aesthetically pleasing to the touch and eyes.

WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM FRACTIONAL LASER TREATMENT?

At Zena Esthetique, we trust Cutera for our fractional treatment. Like all other Cutera handpieces, the Pearl handpiece can be used safely and effectively on many skin types. Very pale to light brown skin types are better candidates. Dark skin tones are not considered ideal candidates for fractional treatment. Some imperfections targeted by the laser are more difficult to capture on darker skin and are therefore less effectively treated.

WHICH AREAS CAN BE COVERED?

Fractional laser treatment is mostly used on facial areas but keep in mind that it is effective on the neck, chest and hands.

It is also an excellent treatment for reducing the appearance of stretch marks.

At Zena Esthetique we have equipped ourselves with the latest Cutera handpiece to perform our fractional treatments - the Xeo Pearl Er: YSGG.
