Using medical laser we can treat a condition called onychomycosis which occurs on the toenails.
WHAT CAN BE THE SYMPTOMS OF TOENAIL FUNGUS?
Many symptoms can occur and can signal a toenail fungus infection. You may notice discoloration on the toenails. You might see white colored spots on your fingernails. Your nails might have a yellow-brown tint. Your nails are more fragile, break easily and have jagged edges. You notice that your fingernails are deformed. Your nails thicken and become more difficult to cut with standard nail clippers. Your nails may appear dark and if by any chance dirt and debris accumulate under the nails, a foul smell may emanate from your feet. Those are the more common symptoms. Please always check with your dermatologist if you have any doubts.
WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE TREATMENTS ?
There are many treatments available and we suggest that you use what works best for you. There are over-the-counter medications, prescription medications and, in some cases, surgery may be recommended. What we offer is a proven alternative. We suggest laser treatments with a medical laser.
WHAT IS A LASER TREATMENT FOR TOENAIL FUNGUS?
Laser treatment for nail fungus is a treatment that uses laser therapy to treat the infection.
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING A SESSION?
The technician will clean the affected area and continue with a laser pass over the area to be treated. The rays emitted by the laser do all the work. When exposed to the skin, these light rays penetrate the surface structure of the skin. You may feel a slight pressure exerted by the technician to ensure that the rays penetrate the skin. A slight pain may be felt, but nothing significant. In fact, some people experience relief after treatment is complete. Each treatment session can vary from 20 to 40 minutes.
WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER THE TREATMENT?
Generally, the body reacts very well to the treatment. Increased blood flow can lead to reduced inflammation almost immediately. If pain was present, a decrease in pain may be felt. Laser treatment helps to restart the healing process. This means that the regeneration of tissue damaged by the fungus can finally begin and healthier looking toenail will start to reappear. Most people show improvement after one treatment. Please keep in mind that the number of treatments required will vary depending on the severity of the nail infection. In severe cases, we recommend treatments spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart. These can only be determined after an initial consultation.
