Frequently asked questions before a first visit

Do I need to shave before a laser session?

Yes. You are generally asked to shave the area to be treated 24 to 48 hours before the session. Be sure not to wax or pluck the hair for at least 3 weeks before the treatment.

Is laser treatment safe?

Yes, if the treatment is performed by a qualified professional with certified equipment. There can be temporary side effects (redness, tingling), but the risks are very low.

What types of hair are treated with laser?

Laser is effective on dark hair (brown to black). It is not effective on white or red hair, as these contain little or no melanin.

Does permanent laser hair removal hurt?

The sensation varies from person to person. It is often compared to a slight prick or a small rubber-band snap. Modern lasers are equipped with cooling systems to limit discomfort.

How many laser sessions are needed?

In general, 8 to 10 sessions are needed, spaced several weeks apart (4 to 8 depending on the area and hair type). The number can vary depending on the color and thickness of the hair, the area treated, hormones and sex.

What should I do after a facial treatment?

After a skin treatment such as microdermabrasion, a peel or photorejuvenation, it is crucial to avoid the sun for at least 7 to 10 days, and to always apply a protective anti-UV cream.
